Summary
When a body, in its cyclical movement returns to its point of departure – Earth, for instance – it outlines in that universal extension a commensurable space – the cadence of space that, once formalised in the clock, classical physics confused with the rhythm of time. This confusion is much more obvious on a cosmic scale.
The fact is that time has no entity as such. As it is the relation between the movement of concrete bodies and the concrete spaces those bodies travel, only those factors – space and movement – exist, of which time is the relation.
It was relativist physics that, whilst persisting in the search for the concrete identity of time, observed the possible «gravitational and magnetic effects on the clock» and, having judged «the tetra-dimension of space», time was then considered as «an existing factor, subject to conversion».
